A perfect mug for the Elvis fan!

Hand built tall mug with an Elbis image hand carved using the sgraffito technique .

The clay is rolled out and cut into 3 sections, base handle and main section. No wheel is used. This slab process takes approximately 3 weeks from start to finish.

Once the mug is leather hard, I add lyrics on the opposite side.

These are part of the Elvis song, Jailhouse Rock.

Once the mug is dried and bisque fired, the underglaze is added to the lyrics and washed off, then a transparent glaze is brushed over the outside to give the mug a shine.

The inside of the mug is a selection of coloured glazes, overlayed to run into each other.
